SOP for Operation of Reverse Laminar Air Flow Unit In Dispensing Area

1.0 OBJECTIVE: 

To describe operating procedure of Reverse Laminar Air Flow (RLAF) unit.

2.0 SCOPE:

This Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) covers the procedure of operating RLAF units bearing equipment No. STR-0001.

3.0 RESPONSIBILITY: 

3.1 Store Personnel to follow the SOP

3.2 Store In-charge to ensure compliance

4.0 PROCEDURE: 

4.1 Before starting the operation, ensure ‘zero’ reading in all three magneheilic gauges and also ensure the same is re-calibrated before its calibration due date.

4.2 Check the cleanliness of RLAF by visual inspection.

4.3 Check and ensure all three magnahelic gauges are at “zero” reading, (else, do not operate RLAF and inform maintenance department for rectification).

4.4 Switch on the main supply, Light and then Blower in RLAF.

4.5 Allow the RLAF to run for at least 15 minutes to stabilise the airflow before starting the dispensing activity. 

4.6 Following are details of three magnahelic gauges used in RLAF unit to measure the pressure difference:

4.6.1 PRESSURE DROP ACROSS FINAL (HEPA) FILTER:

Category: Critical, (Limit: 8 mm – 14 mm) and if reading it is found out of limit, stop the operation and intimate maintenance department.

4.6.2 PRESSURE DROP ACROSS INTERMEDIATE FILTER:

Category: Indicative (Limit: 2mm – 4 mm) and if reading is found out of limit; stop the operation and intimate maintenance department for cleaning the intermediate filter.

4.6.3 PRESSURE DROP ACROSS PREFILTER:

Category: Indicative (Limit: 1mm – 3 mm). Incase if reading is found out of limit; stop the operation and intimate maintenance department for cleaning the pre-filter.

4.7 Ensure dispensing activity is done always inside the safe zone. (A Red line marked inside RLAF is the limit of safe zone).

4.8 On completion of operation, allow RLAF to run for minimum 5 minutes and then switch off the power supply.

4.9 Maintain the RLAF log sheet for usage and cleaning of RLAF as per Annexure I
