SOP for locating, setting and downloading the temperature Data Logger
1.0 OBJECTIVE:
To describe the procedure for Locating, Downloading the temperature data, Setting and Programming the Temperature Data Logger using software.
2.0 SCOPE:
This SOP covers the procedure for Locating, Downloading the temperature data, Setting and Programming the data logger located in respective department.

3.0 RESPONSIBILITY:
3.1 Operating Personnel: To Locate and download the temperature data & review, Setting and Programming.
3.2 Engineering department: Assist in trouble shooting.
3.3 Department Head (HOD) : To ensure the compliance of SOP.
4.0 PROCEDURE
4.1 Procedure for Locating, Downloading temperature data from data logger.
4.1.1 Locating, the data logger at appropriate place in respective department.
4.1.1.1. Identify the Hot Point found during the temperature mapping Study in respective areas and locate the data logger near the hot point.
4.1.2 Downloading temperature data from data logger
4.1.2.1 Remove the data logger from Hot Point of respective area.
4.1.2.2 Connect the Data logger with computer where the software for downloading data is installed.
4.1.2.3 Insert the temperature data logger in base unit of Temperature Data logger.
4.1.2.4 Double Click on the software icon on the desktop of the computer where the software is installed.
4.1.2.5 Enter user name and password.
4.1.2.6 Wait for few second until searching the data.
4.1.2.7 Select the read data from screen.
4.1.2.8 Data will be showing chart mode.
4.1.2.9 As per the requirement select the data in chart mode or tabular mode.
4.1.2.10 Click on File menu on topside of screen.
4.1.2.11 Select the respective folder & file from screen where the data need to be saved & save the data appropriately.
4.1.2.12 Reset the data is needed.
4.1.2.13 Screen will show message “Caution, all old logger data will be lost when programming the logger, are you sure?” “Yes”, “No”.
4.1.2.14 Click “Yes” on screen.
4.1.2.15 Old data will be lost & new data recording will start as per program set.
4.1.2.16 Remove the temperature data logger from base unit and relocate it at respective place.
4.1.2.17 Remove the data logger from computer.
4.1.2.18 Close the software.
4.1.2.19 Open the respective file when you want to take print out from computer.
4.1.2.20 Printout shall be taken in every first week of the month.
4.1.2.21 Data shall be reviewed and signed by the respective department person and keep photo copy of it in department and original to be submitted in the QA department for verification and filing.
Note: 1. Any Temperature excursion observed in data logger for a time during the temperature data downloading will be acceptable without any justification.
2. Respective department shall procure the base unit of data logger from Engineering department as an when required.
4.2 Procedure for Setting and Programming
4.2.1 Remove the data logger from Hot Point of respective area.
4.2.2 Connect the Data logger with computer where the software for downloading data is installed.
4.2.3 Insert the temperature data logger in base unit of Temperature Data logger.
4.2.4 Set the “user setting” and “security setting” by clicking on the same respectively.
4.2.5 User Setting:
4.2.5.1 Any new user can be registered by clicking on new and entering the details like User Name, Complete Name, Password and Rights and saving the changes then after.
4.2.6 Security Settings:
4.2.6.1 Minimum password length (here it is 8 characters).
4.2.6.2 Enter the required duration of validity of the password (i.e. 30 days).
4.2.6.3 Select the number of false entries in security mode (i.e. 3 time) and than save the changes as per requirement.
4.2.7 Remove the temperature data logger from base unit and relocate at respective place.
4.2.8 Remove the base unit from computer.
4.2.9 Close the software.
4.2.7 Programming:
4.2.7.1 Remove the data logger from Hot Point of respective area.
4.2.7.2 Connect the Data logger with computer where the software for downloading data is installed.
4.2.7.3 Insert the temperature data logger in base unit of Temperature Data logger.
4.2.7.4 Double Click on the software icon on the desktop of the computer where the software is installed.
4.2.7.5 Enter the respective password in log in menu and click “OK”.
4.2.7.6 In the “logger tag” click on the “select”.
4.2.7.7 Click on the small data logger picture on the screen.
4.2.7.8 Again in the logger tag click on the “Program” mode for programming.
4.2.7.9 In measurement section: Fill up the following details.
4.1.4.9.1 Remark: Give the name of the respective area where data logger is placed.
4.1.4.9.2 Type : Select “Endless measurement immediately” option.
4.1.4.9.3 Interval: 60 minutes.
4.2.7.10 In Limit Value: Fill up the following details.
4.1.4.10.1 Limit channels: as per the temperature limit requirement.
4.2.7.11 In logger section: Fill up the following details.
4.1.4.11.1 Select the temperature limit as either Celsius (°C) or Fahrenheit (°F).
4.2.7.12 Now click on “programme logger” button, Warning will be displayed indicating, “Data Will be lost when programming the logger”.
4.2.7.13 Click “Yes” and will display that “Logger has been successfully programmed”.
4.3 Trouble shooting.
4.3.1 In case of failure to record or found any abnormality inform the engineering department, and it is the responsibility of engineering department to rectify the problem in data logger.
