1.0 OBJECTIVE :          

To describe the cleaning procedure for Factory Premises in order to ensure its proper House Keeping.

2.0 SCOPE :

This Standard Operating Procedure for cleaning of Factory premises is applicable at [company name]. The Cleaning areas as mentioned in Annexure –X.

3.0 RESPONSIBILITY :

HR Head or his designee to compliance or House Keeping Supervisor .

4.0 PROCEDURE :

4.1 CLEANING DEVICES

4.4 CLEANING PROCEDURE FOR LAVATORIES:

4.4.1 Wear hand gloves, mop the floor with Hand Brush and collect the accumulated waste in the poly lined Dust Bin Provided in the Toilet.

4.4.2 Take out the poly bag from the dustbin and dispose off the same in the specified place.

4.4.3 Wash the Floor With water using rubber wiper.

4.4.4 Prepare a diluted solution in water at the ratio of 1 ltr : 20 ml of  R1 (Cleaning Agent).

4.4.5 Mop the floor with above solution by making use of conventional cotton mop.

4.4.6 Ensure that the floor is completely dry after moping.

4.4.7 Flush all commodes with water.

4.4.8 Flush all Urinal Tubs with fresh water.

4.4.9 Remove stains from Urinal and Toilet Tubs. Flush with water to remove reagent.

4.4.10 Replace Naphthalene balls if necessary.

4.4.11 Clean Toilet fixtures like Mirror / Hand Dryer / Soap Dispenser with R2. (Cleaning Agent).

4.4.12 Check the availability of Liquid Detergent in Soap dispensers and if required fill them with the detergent.

4.4.13 Clean Hand Wash basins with R1.

4.4.14 Check that exhausts are in working condition.

4.4.15 Enter the records in the  Annexure I.

4.4.16 Spray disinfectant cum air freshener (R5).

FREQUENCY: Daily, (Every One hour or as & when required).

4.5 CLEANING OF WINDOW FRAMES/ GLASS PANES & DOORS

4.5.1 Spray R2 on the glass surface.

4.5.2 Rub with dry wiper till the Glass Surface becomes spotless. In case spots are still visible, spray more R2 followed by rubbing with cleaned wiper.

4.5.3 Wipe aluminum frame with clean cloth.

4.5.4 Cleaning of the glass should be done on both sides.

4.5.5 Check the door surface from both sides spray R2 on the dirty spot observed on the door surface, rub with clean cloth.

4.5.6 Enter the records in the Annexure IV.

FREQUENCY : Daily

4.6 CLEANING PROCEDURE FOR INSECTOCUTERS

4.6.1 Switch off “mains” of the equipment.

4.6.2 Remove the bottom tray.

4.6.3 Collect dead insects, if any from the tray and put them in a polybag.

4.6.4 Clean inside of the tray with a duster.

4.6.5 Clean the insectocuter with a clean duster.

4.6.6 Keep the tray at its place.

4.6.7 Switch on the insectocuter.

4.6.8 DO not touch the insectocuter when it is in “on” position.

4.6.9 Enter the records as per Annexure II.

4.6.10 Record shall be checked by Concerned department personnel and reviewed by HR and Q.A. personnel at the end of month.

FREQUENCY  : Weekly

4.7 CLEANING PROCEDURE FOR WATER COOLERS :

4.7.1 Switch off the Main Power supply to the water cooler.

4.7.2 Drain out the water completely.

4.7.3 Remove the lid.

4.7.4 Clean the interior surface of the water tank using R2 and clean with soft spongy scrubber.

4.7.5 Wash the tank with fresh water, and ensure by visual inspection.

4.7.6 Clean lid and Outer surface of the water cooler with clean duster.

4.7.7 Check the tap for any leakage of water.

4.7.8 Initially Start Valve for 2 to 3 minute and drain the water.

4.7.9 Fill water cooler with fresh water and close the lid.

4.7.10 Enter the cleaning record in the Annexure III.

FREQUENCY  : Weekly

4.8 FLOOR CLEANING PROCEDURE :

4.8.1 With the aid of dry mop, clean the floor by removing dust / particles from the floor.

4.8.2   Ensure that the coving/ corners of the floor are cleaned by using vacuum cleaner if required.

4.8.3   Clean the floor with wet mop using diluted solution of R2 (1 ltr of Water + 20 ml of R2).

4.8.4   Clean the floor twice a day. (Morning & Afternoon) or as and when required.

4.8.5   Enter the records in the Annexure IV.

FREQUENCY   : Daily (Twice)

4.9 CLEANING OF WALLS & CEILING

4.9.1 Clean the ceiling with the aid of starting duster along with the rod to reach the ceiling height.

4.9.2 Take utmost care to clean the corners and edges of  the ceiling. Check for cobwebs if any, and remove if noticed with the help of vacuum pump.

4.9.3 Clean the surface of the walls with starting duster, if spot noticed then use white sponge.

4.9.4 Enter the records in the Annexure VI.

FREQUENCY: Fortnightly

4.10 CLEANING OF FACTORY SURROUNDING, CYCLE / SCOOTER STAND, STORM DRAINS

4.10.1 With the aid of flipper machine, clean the surrounding of the factory & Cycle – Scooter stand.

4.10.2 With the aid of soft broom, clean the utility block, E.T.P area.

4.10.3 With the aid of wet & dry mops, clean the area of R.O Plant.

4.10.4 Remove all unwanted items from the surroundings.

4.10.5 Ensure that surroundings is absolutely clean and free from unwanted items.

4.10.6 Clean the storm drains by the aid of hand brooms, and ensure that there is no stagnation of the water in the drain.

4.10.7 Enter the records in the Annexure V.

FREQUENCY:  Daily

Note: In case, cleaning is required at any given point of time in areas the same shall be done and recorded.

4.11 CLEANING OF WASH BASIN IN CANTEEN  : 

4.11.1 Wear Blue Glove and take out the solid waste from the Wash Basin and put the collected waste in the Dustbin.

4.11.2 Wash the Basin with water.

4.11.3 Clean Wash Basin from inside and outside with R1, using Scotch Brite.

4.11.4 Clean the Wash Basins with fresh Water.

4.11.5 Check and ensure that inside of the Wash Basin, out side of the Wash Basin and, Edges of the Wash Basins and tiled wall at the back of the Wash Basin appear neat and clean to the eyes.

4.11.6 Clean Underneath areas of the Wash Basin by medium Scotch Brite.

4.11.7 Clean the floor near the Wash Basin with carpet brush & collect the waste in the dustbin.

4.11.8 With the help of soft nylon srubber, clean the floor with R2 and water.

4.11.9 Dry the floor with dry Mop, Check & ensure that the floor appears clean & free from Dirty patches.

FREQUENCY:   Daily

4.12    TERRACE CLEANING

4.12.1 With the help of Soft broom, clean the Terrace.

4.12.2 Collect the dust and other waste if any in a poly bag.

4.12.3 Enter the record in the Annexure VIII.

FREQUENCY: Weekly

4.13 SURROUNDINGS GLASS PANS OF GROUND FLOOR

4.13.1 With the aid of Glass cleaning Kit, Clean the glass pans.

4.13.2 Spray R2 solution on the Glass surface.

4.13.3 Rub with dry wiper till the glass surface becomes spotless. In case spot are still visible, spray more detergent followed by rubbing with cleaned wiper.

4.13.4 Cleaning of the Glass should be done on the both sides.

FREQUENCY: Weekly

4.14 ROOFING OF ENGINEERING BLOCK & CYCLE – SCOOTER STAND / TERRACE OF SECURITY BLOCK.

4.14.1 Use hand broom for cleaning of the roofing of Engineering block and cycle-scooter stand.

4.14.2 Use soft broom for cleaning the terrace of the Security Block.

4.14.3 Collect the waste in a Poly bag.

4.14.4 Ensure by visual inspection that area is cleaned.

FREQUENCY: Weekly

4.15 ELECTRICAL FIXTURES AND FANS

4.15.1 Check that the fan is in off position.

4.15.2 Wipe the blade and body of the fan using clean dry cloth with the help of stepladder.

4.15.3 Wipe the fan with clean wet cloth after squeezing the duster to remove the last drop of the water.

4.15.4 Wipe the electrical switch boards with clean dry cloth. Do not use wet cloth for cleaning the switch boards.

FREQUENCY : Weekly

4.16.1 HARD CLEANING OF FLOOR  :

4.16.1 With the aid of the [Floor Cleaning] Machine , Clean the Floor.

4.16.2 Fill the R2 solution in the tank of the machine (1 ltr Water +20 ml of R2). And R2 using only for Canteen and Service Area.

4.16.3 After the use of the machine, use dry vacuum cleaner for drying the floor.

4.16.4 Ensure by visual inspection that the floor is cleaned.

FREQUENCY: Monthly

4.17 SURROUNDINGS GLASS PANS OF FIRST & SECOND FLOOR

4.17.1 With the aid of the Glass Kit and Safety Belt., Clean the glass Panes.

4.17.2 Spray R2 Solution on the glass surface.

4.17.3 Rub with dry wiper till the Glass surface becomes spotless. In case spot are still visible, spray more detergent followed by rubbing with cleaned wiper.

4.17.4 Cleaning of the glass should be done on both sides.

FREQUENCY:  Monthly

4.18 STORAGE OF CLEANING DEVICES

4.18.1 After House Keeping activity is  over, clean the devices like Mops, Buckets, Wipers, Brooms & Brushes with fresh water & detergent squeeze out water completely.

4.18.2 Hang wipers & Mops on the Hooks provided in the Janitor Room. Always Keep all cleaning devices in the Janitor Room, after they are cleaned & dried.

4.19    Procedure to be followed if Cleaning Status is not OK

4.20    Repeat the respective cleaning procedure as mentioned in the SOP till the status becomes OK.

5.0 Whenever there is any need of cleaning, other than defined in Annexure, in any working area of the plant, the concerned plant personnel shall call upon the House keeping personnel for performing cleaning. Cleaning shall be performed in supervision of Concerned personnel or Supervisor.
