SOP for Pest and Rodent Control

1.0 OBJECTIVE: 

To describe the procedure for Pest and Rodent Control in and around the plant in order to get rid of crawling insects, flying insects, lizards and rodents.

2.0 SCOPE: 

This SOP covers the procedure for Pest and Rodent Control.

3.0 RESPONSIBILITY: 

Head – HR / Designee, Security Officer / Supervisor, Housekeeping personnel.

4.0 PROCEDURE:

4.1 Pest and Rodent control services shall be carried out by the representatives of the contract agency in the presence of the authorized person of the department. Authorized person list shall be updated from time to time as may be required. The authorized persons shall be listed as per annexure –I and their signature as an acceptance of satisfactory services offered by the agency is recorded in annexure –II .

4.2 Type of the chemicals used for control of rodents and pests shall be written down by the representatives of contract agency in Annexure –II.

4.3 In case contract agency makes a change in the composition or types of chemicals used by him or in the techniques for the rodent and pest control, he shall inform to the Head Human Resources or his designee about the changes made which shall be allowed only after consultation with the Head QA.

4.4 Representatives of the contract agency shall strictly follow the company’s entry procedure and safety norms during his work.

4.5 Security Officer / Supervisor shall ensure that all details have been recorded in annexure-II, before submitting to HR Head for final comments and final approval from Q.A Head.

4.6 Any comments made by the Head – QA recorded in annexure-II and shall be conveyed to the contract agency for compliance.

4.7 Pest & Rodent control shall be carried out only in the areas marked as per Annexure-III.

4.8 Contract with the agency shall be renewed, depending upon his satisfactory work.

4.9 Location points for Rodent control and Pest control is to be strictly followed as indicated on the lay out, enclosed as Annexure – IV and Annexure – V.

4.10 FREQUENCY :

4.10.1 Pest and Rodent control shall be carried out once every week but the agency can increase the frequency, based on the severity of the observations & approval from Head Human Resources / Head Q.A.

4.10.2 Pest and Rodent control shall be carried out on weekly off day.

4.11 Assessment of Pest and Rodent Control Activities.

4.11.1 Assessment of effectiveness of Pest and Rodent control shall be done on weekly basis by HR Personnel and Pest Control Agency jointly and status will be recorded in Annexure VI.

4.11.2 HR Personnel and Pest Control Agency shall inspect all the Area and Rodent Points.

4.11.3 If any Pest and Rodent found shall be recorded in Annexure VI.

4.12 Disposal of Pest / Rodents.

4.12.1 If Rodents are found, other than insectocutors, Incident form will be filled by concerned department & will be sent to HRA Department for corrective and preventive action.

4.12.2 Pest and Rodent to be collected in a Poly bag  and shall be sealed and tied. Take the poly bag at outside garden, adjacent to Scrap yard. Dig a hole. Bury all the Pests/Rodents, after removing them from poly bag.
